Dear BYU Tv,

I want to acknowledge and thank you for all of your television programs and clean broadcasting.  I am a BYU student studying Human Development, and I am taking a media class that emphasizes the effects that media has on society. It is really hard to find good clean movies and television shows out there in this world amongst all the not so clean media. I feel that amongst college age students that the concept of humor is very important. At this vital age we need to learn to laugh at ourselves and realize that if we make mistakes that we are not terrible people but that we should and can overcome hard times with a smile. We also have many stresses and anxieties that we are dealing with and having a good clean humor in the media, I feel is one of the best ways that we can deal with this anxiety.
I want to comment on one of your programs called Studio C. This show is amazing and I love how this show is very clean. In almost every comedy show that I watch, there is at least one time where I am nervous to laugh because the humor is too “dirty” or inappropriate. Most humor involves gross sexual content, and violence and I for one do not want to laugh about that. When it comes to Studio C, I am not embarrassed to show this show to anybody. Everything about the show is clean, from the music to the skits, and wardrobe.  Most of the what skits are about I feel are what all of us are going through, but I love how Studio C portrays these real life situations in a clean positive way, so that when the viewers are in those situations, they can laugh at themselves and not be so stressed out. That is one of the things I have done after seeing the show, I found myself in one the situations shown on that show and I was able to come out of it with more of a sense of humor.
I am so glad that BYU-TV has Studio C and I would strongly encourage BYU-TV to keep producing shows and movies that are like Studio C. I know that if you do that your demographics will increase and the numbers of viewers would go up. I love your cooking shows, and quilting shows, but I feel that more clean comedic shows would increase the numbers and would give people a place to go to feel safe and relaxed.  I hope that this change will make college students and anybody else who watches shows like Studio C will see a new perspective on life.
Thank you,

Brittany Saltou

  1. BYU-TV is such a great resource. Although, I sometimes feel like most of their shows are targeted towards elderly alumni... More shows like Studio C would be great! I hope you get a good response from your letter. :)
